Communication between the Different IGPs

I have two different IGPs that are interconnected as below:

((OSPF))-----((RIP))

How the communication is going to happen between the OSPF network and the RIP network? And how each network distributes its route to the other one?

It is sometimes necessary to accommodate more complex network topologies such as independent RIP and OSPF clouds that must perform mutual redistribution.
