Hi everyone,

Thanks for using the NetBrain solutions. The majority of our customers install/uninstall NetBrain smoothly on their computers. A few of you may encounter some problems. First of all, please note that most of these problems are not caused by the NetBrain software itself, they are probably related to your system environment. Here is a list of some preliminary troubleshooting steps. These options have proven to resolve the majority of problems:

Reboot your computer
Make sure you have full administrative rights for the NetBrain installer, it’s better to use the default administrator account instead of a member of the Administrative group.
Make sure no other applications, including utilities such as virus scanners, are running in the background. Close all running applications and utilities, and launch the InstallShield setup again.

We have also listed some specific problems here. You can check this list to find out whether you have a similar problem. If not, please reply with your own problem and we will work with you to fix it.

When trying to uninstall NetBrain, I got this error message: “Error: 1730. You need to be the Administrator to uninstall this product”.
Install hangs on "writing system registry values".

1. When trying to uninstall NetBrain, I got this error message: “Error: 1730. You need to be the Administrator to uninstall this product”.

This is a glitch in WIN7/Vista. The way you solve the problem is to disable the UAC, then restart your computer. Log into the same Admin account and uninstall NetBrain again. After the uninstallation, you can decide whether or not to enable UAC.
Refer to the following link on how to disable UAC:

2. Install hangs on "writing system registry values"

Please start task manager. There are two instances of msiexec.exe running in the processes, one by SYSTEM, another one by sys admin user. There's a workaround by manually killing the process running by sys admin user. Once that instance is killed, the installation will continue and it will use msiexec.exe by SYSTEM to run the process.
