Default How to update password for all devices after TACACS account password changes

**Problem:
Password for the main userID has changed, and user wants to update this for all devices in NetBrain.

**Solution:
1) Right click on any device that uses the main userID to access the CLI, and select the Shared Device Settings option.
2) Check the box to the right of the Username and Password fields. Enter the main userID in the Username field, and enter the new password in the Password field.
3) Click “Apply” to apply the new username/password to all devices.
4) Then, you can click Discover or Tune Shared Network Settings in the Workspace tab. This will use the new password for all existing devices and new devices.
Please refer to screenshot in attached file image003.jpg for more details.

Applicable to: OE all version

Default Re: How to update password for all devices after TACACS account password changes

Is it possible that NetBrain is locking a TACACS account with the daily benchmarks? I've been trying to keep up with the required monthly password changes to a read-only account that our WAN provider has given us, but it seems that something is locking it out. Any advice on troubleshooting & finding the cause of the lockouts?

This is used on Juniper routers.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, if the server has locking settings such as: lock after 5 bad attempts or lock when 20 attempts form one IP at the same time.

For the first one, please apply the correct CLI credentials to devices.

For the second one, since NB benchmark will reach every device in live network to collect CLI output/SNMP info, the concurrent threads may conflict with some setting in your live network.

Could you kindly follow the steps below to change the concurrent threads of benchmark lower to have a try?

1. Please modify the para below to minimize the threads to access network at the same time:

@\\NetBrain\Network Server\conf > fix_livesetting.ini ( Please modify every NS if multi NS in network)

ssh_count = 18

telnet_count = 18

Note: The default value is 36, please change it according to your account settings. If you don't know this value of your account, we suggest you to change it to 18 to have a try and then benchmark may cost more time than before. If 18 works and you want to make benchmark with less time, you can try to change it to 20,22…(+2) to find an appropriate value depend on your network environment.

2. Then restart 'NetBrain Benchmark Service'. Press win +R to open the Run window, enter “services.msc” to open the Services window, restart the “NetBrain Benchmark Service” .

If it still doesn't work, please send email to support@netbraintech.com.
