Default How to avoid broadcasting traffic in a OSPF over Frame-relay network?


Preview Qmap: "OSPF over Frame-relay.qmap"


According to the topology above, configure OSPF over Frame-Relay such that no broadcasting traffic required across Frame-Relay cloud.

Default Knowledge Points

  • If IP to DLCI mapping statement does not have the keyword "broadcast", OSPF neighbor relationship will not establish.
  • To get around, use startic neighbor command. Using neighbor X.X.X.X under OSPF process to send the hello packets via unicast.
  • To fix the mis-matched Hello Timers between point-to-point and multipoint interface, configure ip ospf network point-to-multipoint non-broadcast in R3's s0/0.1
